The Crypt Keeper Chopped in New ‘Tales from the Crypt’?

Well, shit. We all knew it was too good to be true. In the back of our minds, under all of the excitement, there was that lurking fear that the new TNT Tales from the Crypt wasn’t going to match up to the original HBO series. In that manner, they are already off to a wonderful start. It appears that John Kassir’s Crypt Keeper that we all know and love will not be part of the new series.
Last night, John Kassir posted several tweets that appear to confirm the death of the Crypt Keeper. Instead, the new series will feature an old man by a fire, similar to the original EC comics. The Crypt Keeper that was created in the original series belongs to HBO and is not part of the Tales from the Crypt licensing. Nothing against TNT, but I would much rather see the series come back to life on HBO.
I’m just hearing about this myself! If I hear any further info., I’ll pass it on to you Creeps as soon as it hits my rotting ears!

I’ll go on record, “Crypt Keeper as we know him is more popular than ever & it’d be a sham/shame not to have him host the show!!!!!

To make things worse, Bloody Disgusting reported that the plan appears to be to make the show similar to American Horror Story and feature one storyline per season. Rumor has it that the tone of the show will be similar to True Blood and American Horror Story, focusing on voodoo in New Orleans. I like American Horror Story and I liked True Blood for the most part, but don’t mess with my Tales from the Crypt dammit!
