Alien: Covenant

Recent reports are showing that Ridley Scott is looking to receive a hard “R” rating for his upcoming film, Alien: Covenant. During a backstage interview at the Golden Globes, Scott announced that he plans to try and push the envelope and really bring a sense of gore and horror to his new film. He seems to be focused on really getting the audience’s attention and bringing that sense of fright we all felt when we first watched the famous meal scene during the first Alien movie. Here’s what he had to say, “I felt a sense of responsibility that, had I gone too far because it was extreme? I’m going to do that again this year, but much worse.”

Taking place ten years after Prometheus, Scott noted that Alien: Covenant will continue our journey into the house that Alien built. “We’re heading back to where and how and why the beast was invented. We’ll go back into the backdoor of the very first Alien that I did 30 years ago,” he said during another interview.

All of this talk about the new movie has me extremely excited. I remember watching the Alien films as a child and I have since enlighted my son to the wonderfully terrifying experience. Hopefully, Scott will make good on his promise and bring something shocking and gore filled to the table.
